On Sunday 26th June 2011 Harwich Angling Club travelled to Southminster Lakes to fish the first of a series of six Essex Inter Club League - Division 1 matches for 2011/2012 season now with 10 teams competing.
With their strongest team available on a very hot and sunny day, with the venue looking in good condition, hopes were high.
Drawing peg 8 for all six sections it was going to be a good challenge for the team.
When all the results came in, it was a close match with the top six teams all being within 5 points of each other.
However it was not one of the best results for Harwich Angling Club, who finished in tenth place achieving only a team total of 19 points even though everyone in the team picked up some valuable points.
Continuing his good form from last season, Graeme Edgar (F8 Pit 9) weighed in with 4lbs 12ozs picking up 6 points and was the clubs top angler on the day.
The other members in the squad were Paul Chambers (E8 Pit 4) with 5lbs 5ozs getting 5 points, Jeff Mortimer (C8 Pit 6) with 2lbs 11.5ozs getting 4 points, Tony Lee (D8 Pit 6) with 1lb 1oz getting 2 points, Keith Allen (B8 Pit 1) with 1lb 9ozs getting 1 point and Laurie Snell (A8 Pit 3) with 1lbs 4ozs getting 1 point. Harwich Angling Club will be looking to improve on their current 10th place league position in the remaining matches, the next being at Prestons Lake, Pebmarsh on 17th July.
