E.I.C.L. Match 2

At the weekend Harwich Angling Club fished the second in the series of six Essex Inter Club League - Division 1 matches being held on three different venues, at Seabrooks lake, Silver End front lake and Layer Marney middle lake.

On a warm and sunny day with the occasional gusty wind, and the venues looking good but with some weed present, the presentation and correct bait requirements would be crucial due to each of the venues requiring different tactics.

With their strongest team available it was a tough challenge for the team when they had drawn peg 10 for all six sections.

When the results came in, it was a disappointing result for Harwich Angling Club. Although everyone in the squad had fish in their nets and picked up points, the team only amassed a total of 31.5 points and finished in seventh place.

This result has put Harwich Angling Club into fifth place in the league with 11 points just 7 points behind the top team Braintree AC.

The members of the squad were Bob Oakley (E10 Layer Marney) with 7lbs 5ozs and Graeme Edgar (F10 Layer Marney) with 2lbs 8ozs both getting 7 point each, Dave Brown (A10 Seabrooks) with 5lbs 12ozs getting 6 points, Alan Luetchford (D10 Silver End) with 7lbs 15ozs getting 6 points, Laurie Snell (B10 Seabrooks) with 1lbs 10ozs getting 3 points and Paul Chambers (C10 Silver End) with 1lbs 7ozs getting 2.5 points.

With Harwich Angling Club hosting the next Essex Inter Club League match on Dock River on the 5th September 2010, they will be looking to take advantage of the home venue and to further improve their league position.
