Harwich Angling Club travelled to Layer Marney Lakes, at the weekend, to fish in the second of six Essex Inter Club League matches. With a strong match team on a warm, bright and sunny day and the lakes looking in fine condition, everyone was looking forward to a good match with healthy nets. Drawing peg number 4 for all the six sections it was going to be a difficult task. When all the results came, in it turned out to be a quite low weight match with many anglers catching only ounces and some even blanked. Harwich Angling Club finished in 5th place achieving a team total of 30 points due to everyone in the team putting fish in their nets and picking up valuable points. Russell Foulger (F4), fishing the bottom lake, caught 5lbs 3.25ozs to finish 3rd in his section and getting 7 points, whilst Bob Oakley (B4) with 0lbs 7.5ozs and Graeme Edgar (C4) with 2lbs 11ozs, both fishing the middle lake, finished 4th in their sections picking up 6 points each. The other members of the squad were John Shepard (E4) with 9lbs 12ozs getting 5 points, Dave Brown (D4) and Laurie Snell (A4) both with 0lbs 9ozs and getting 3 points each.
