Sun 7th Oct Essex Inter Club League Match 4
On Sunday Harwich Angling Club traveled to Preston Lake at Pebmarsh to fish in the Essex Inter Club League (EICL) Match 4. With a strong match team of six anglers on a warm, overcast and bright day and the lake looking in fine condition, everyone was looking forward to a good match with healthy nets. Drawing peg number 5 for all the six sections it was going to be a challenging task. When all the results came, it was a close match with the top four teams all being within 9 points of each other. Harwich Angling Club finished in 4th place achieving a team total of 35 points due to everyone in the team putting fish in their nets and picking up valuable points. It was mainly down to the three of the team. Bob Oakley (D5) was outstanding, mastering the conditions perfectly and weighed in with an impressive 33lbs 7ozs to win his section picking up 9 points and finishing in a magnificent 1st place overall in the match. John Shepard (A5) also did extremely well, weighing in with 29lbs 4ozs to also finish first in his section picking up 9 points and finishing in a great 3rd place overall in match. Paul Chambers (B5) weighed in with 12lbs 3ozs to finish third in his section picking up 7 points.The other members of the squad were Graeme Edgar (C5) with 4lbs 14ozs getting 2 points,Dave Brown (E5) with 8lbs 12ozs and Laurie Snell (F5) with 5lbs 2 ozs both getting 4 points each. Harwich Angling Club are currently in 5th place in the league and will be looking to improve even further in the remaining matches.
