Harwich Angling Club, at the weekend, travelled to the River Chelmer to fish in the fourth of six Essex Inter Club League matches. With their strongest team available on an overcast, windy and rainy day with the river quite clear, everyone was expecting a tough match. Drawing peg number 1 for all the six sections it was going to be a hard task. When all the results came in, apart from the winners with 44 points, the next five places were all within 7 points of each other. Harwich Angling Club finished in joint 5th place achieving a team total of 31 points due to everyone in the team putting fish in their nets and picking up some valuable points. The best performances for the team were from Bob Oakley (F1) and Russell Foulger (E1), who both finished third in their sections getting 7 points each with weights of 6lbs 8ozs and 6lbs 3.75ozs respectively. The other members of the squad were Dave Brown (A1) with 1lbs 3.5ozs getting 6 points, Graeme Edgar (D1) with 2lbs 8ozs getting 5 points, John Shepard (C1) with 1lbs 14.5ozs getting 4 points and Laurie Snell (B1) with 0lbs 4.25ozs getting 2 points.
