ESSEX INTERCLUB RND 5

Harwich Angling Club, at the weekend, travelled to Rayne Lodge Lakes to fish in the fifth of six Essex Inter Club League matches.

With their strongest team available on an overcast, blustery and cold day, with the 3 lakes looking in good condition, everyone was expecting a close match providing the carp showed in their pegs. Drawing peg number 7 for all the six sections everyone was looking for carp in their swims, if they were not around then to go for the silver fish option. When all the results came in, it was a close match with the top six places all being within 6 points of each other. Harwich Angling Club finished in joint 5th place achieving a team total of 30 points due to everyone in the team putting fish in their nets and picking up some valuable points. This was mainly due to good performances from three of the team. Paul Chambers (A7) who finished second in his section getting 8 points with a weight of 20lbs 6ozs along with Bob Oakley (C7) and John Shepard (D7) who both finished third in their sections getting 7 points each with weights of 29lbs 5ozs and 7lbs 13.75ozs respectively. The other members of the squad were Dave Brown (E7) with 12lbs 13ozs getting 4 points, Graeme Edgar (F7) with 7lbs 4ozs getting 3 points and Laurie Snell (B7) with 2lbs 2ozs getting 1 point. Harwich Angling Club are still maintaining 5th place in the league but are hoping to improve even further in the remaining last match to be held in a fortnights time, scheduled to be on the River Stour.
