ROD & REEL TROPHY

Harwich Angling Club held their Rod & Reel Trophy match on Bradfield Lake at the weekend. On a bright, sunny yet breezy day, with the lake water level high and in good colour, everyone was hoping for some good nets.

With only the top two highest weights counting in this all fish count match, anglers had to decide whether to go all out for the carp to get a good weight, or go for quantity in silver fish. This would also be dependant upon the peg they drew.

At the end of the match it proved to be the silver fish choice that paid dividends for anglers, as those who chose the carp option failed to land any.

Fishing the feeder approach it was Russell Foulger, on peg 1, who won the match with skimmers and roach for a weight of 7lbs 6ozs. Closely following in second place was Laurie Snell, on peg 9, fishing the waggler approach to the edge of some weed , who weighed in with 6lbs 5ozs of skimmers, roach and perch
